General Biochemistry — Exam Guide
1. Before the exam date
Register on the e-learning platform Enroll in the General Biochemistry course for the current academic year on the university e-learning platform. Enrollment gives you access to all course materials, including the self-assessment tests that mirror the actual exam questions. Keep your enrollment active even after passing the exam — the grade remains visible to the system only as long as you are enrolled.
Register on ESSE3 (mandatory) At least two days before the exam date, register for the exam session on ESSE3 — Segreteria Online. Without this registration you cannot verbalize the exam.
2. On the exam day
Punctuality
Arrive at the indicated Room, 15 minutes before the start of the exam.
What you need
- Your institutional email account (Name.Surname@studenti.unite.it) — required to access the exam platform
- A smartphone or tablet with internet access (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
What is not allowed
- Additional electronic devices of any kind
- Internet browsing outside the course website
- Any application other than the browser used to access the exam platform
Format The written test lasts 30 minutes and consists of 10 multiple-choice questions, each with a single correct answer. Questions are drawn randomly from the same database used for the self-assessment tests.
Scoring
Outcome Points Correct answer +3 Wrong or missing answer 0 Scoring and grading are fully automatic. Results are displayed immediately upon completion.
During the test — important If you believe a question is defective or ambiguous, report it immediately during the test. Disputes about answer submission after the exam closes will not be considered.
Passing threshold: 18.00 The exam is passed if the final score is ≥ 18.00. Scores between 17.50 and 17.99 do not constitute a pass, regardless of proximity to the threshold.
Rounding of the final grade Once the exam is passed, the decimal score is rounded to the nearest integer:
Decimal part Rounding .1 – .4 Rounded down (e.g. 24.3 → 24) .5 – .9 Rounded up (e.g. 24.7 → 25) The rounded integer is your final recorded grade.
3. After the exam
If you pass (score ≥ 18/30) The score shown at the end of the test is your final grade. If you wish to refuse the grade, you must submit the Exam Grade Rejection Form that will be sent to your institutional email address on the day of the exam. Grades not explicitly refused are considered accepted and will be recorded.
Please note that you have one day to reject the grade you received (≥ 18). Failure to do so will result in the grade being recorded in the Minutes.
4. Communications
