As you probably already know, this year the Faculty of Political Science is offering a set of new courses and seminars, completely thaught in English!

The seminar "Poverty, Inequality and Development" is one of them and I will be holding it!

It consists of three meetings:

  • Monday 10 May (5.00-6.30pm)
  • Tuesday 11 May (5.00-6.30pm)
  • Friday 14 May (5.00-6.30pm).

The following topics will be discussed:

  1. - Measuring Inequality
  2. - Measuring Absolute Poverty
  3. - Poverty, Inequality and Social Welfare
  4. - Absolute Poverty: Extent and Magnitude
  5. - Economic Characteristics of High-Poverty Groups
  6. - Policy Options of Income Inequality and Poverty: Some Considerations

The approach will be general but I would like to dedicate one of the sessions to discuss the "new poors" in Europe and Italy, also with reference to the current crisis.

I'm looking for brilliant and curious students with some knowledge of English, willing to get involved in open discussions, presentations and Q&A sessions.

To get enrolled, please write me an e-mail (npace@unite.it) by April 15th.

The seminar corresponds to 0.5 CFU + the possibility to interact directly with the instructor. Do not miss it!
