  • General information about the course

    P. Pittia is Food Professor in Food Science and Technology.
    In this elective course students will acquire knowledge on aspects related to the research and development (R&D) strategies and models applied in food industry and research centres and understand their importance in supporting the innovation in food systems including the tools for its valorization and intellectual protection rights. Based on the main scenarios and trends along with the different fields of action in the food production, students will learn and understand the different ways to generate ideas to be exploited in innovative, while sustainable and green, outcomes (e.g. new process technologies, new products) taking into consideration sustainability, quality, technology requirements and market. Aspects related to R&D projects management and knowledge to support scaling up, from lab to industrial scale will be also considered.
    Students will also learn Intellectual property rights and quality protection tools at EU and international level.
